Briefly, the YA Statement, as an output of this 2nd Youth Assembly, captures the strategic recommendations of the youth for the next quadrennium. They, the young people, encrypted Leadership, Governance, and Youth and Global Citizenship Education (GCE) to Action as tools for empowering the young people, as aligned to the NEW WAY Strategy. Youth, as empowered through these tools, can initiate socially responsible actions that can address these two (2) focal issues: Climate Change and Environment, and Peace and Reconciliation. |

As the YA Statement being polished, the upcoming Leaders Quadrennial Roundtable would require participation of the youth. To make this possible, the remaining amount from the YMCA Fellow for Youth may be used in support to some of the estimated 7-10 youths. This meeting would be held on 17-19 December 2011 at Bangkok, Thailand. This will be a great strategy to ignite the innovative and powerful minds of the youth and gear them with whatever knowledge that requires them to bring about a meaningful contribution for the Youth Participation and Leadership Development (YPLD) Committee.

Youth Internship
One of the purposes of the generating this kind of support is for a Youth Intern who will work closely with Youth Works. We now have Kristina Velez, who started working with us last March 1, 2011. Mainly, her work focuses on coordinating youth programs such as Global Citizehship Education(GCE), Uni-Ys, Youth Assembly, and others. Last month, she was part of the steering team for GCE Trainings. She coordinated GCE along with the Executive Secretaries and Sub-Regional Coordinators, and facilitated some workshops during the trainings. At this point, she has been diligently working with the Youth Assembly Preparatory Team as the event takes on a full swing preparation.
Global Citizenship Education Trainings of Trainers
YMCA Fellow for Youth is also intended for the empowering the Youth through Global Citizenship Education (GCE). This year we had conducted two GCE Training programs in two sub-regions – South East Asia (Makati, Philippines) and South Asia (Kerala, India). Forty-seven (47) participants from both sub-regions attended the trainings and will soon start starting their own GCE Training programs within their respective movements.

Preparing for the 2nd Youth Assembly and 18th APAY General Assembly
Hugely, the support coming from this campaign is now being utilized as means of encouraging more youth to participate meaningfully for the upcoming Youth Assembly and General Assembly which will happen on 3 – 10 of September 2011. As of August 18, there are almost two hundred (200) registered participants. Among them, around ninety (90) will proceed to the General Assembly and thirty-five (35) of them will be subsidized. As we continuously support the youth in our area, we expect them to realize their potentials, be aware of the happenings globally and locally, and respond to the pressing issues in commitment to the YMCA mission.
In return to those who have intensely helped in this campaign, some fellows had already been awarded as our way of appreciating your great contribution for us last March Executive Committee Meeting. More fellows will be awarded on the upcoming General Assembly. Again, these programs/ projects of APAY would not be possible if not for the heart-warming support you gave us. We, in APAY, would want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you.

Hugely, the support coming from this campaign was used as means of encouraging more youth to participate meaningfully for the Youth Assembly and General Assembly which took place last 3-10 September 2011. We are glad to inform you that the YMCA Fellow for Youth was able to spend a total of 26,000USD in supporting thirty-seven (37) highly-potential young people who enthusiastically participated in both the assemblies. They were among those youth who massively put their brains together in order to form the YA Statement that will serve as the mandate of every YMCA in the next four (4) years.
