YMCA Cuttack Organized the Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das Memorial Annual Public Lecture, 2025

YMCA Cuttack observed the 177th Birth Anniversary of Utlaka Gouraba Madhusudan Das (28th April), the founder of YMCA Cuttack. The Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das Memorial Annual Public Lecture, 2025 was organized in association with the St. Thomas Fellowship, Bhubaneswar on 26th April, 2025, from 6:30 PM onwards at YMCA Cuttack on the theme “Madhusudan Das and the Mahatma.” Around 55 eminent, intellectual and religious leaders of the society attended the public lecture.

Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Pro Vice-Chancellor, SOA, Bhubaneswar joined as the Chief Guest for the occasion while Dr. Sangram Jena, Former Vice-President, Odisha Sahitya Akademi delivered the Keynote address. The Emcee Mrs. Manasi Mohanty led the program with elegance and grace.  Rev. Dr. Jagat Ranjan Santra, Secretary, St. Thomas Fellowship, Bhubaneswar started the event with a prayer, followed by the felicitation of Chief Guest, Keynote Speaker and other dignitaries. Mr. Hemant Kumar Dash was also felicitated for his contribution to YMCA Cuttack by painting the portrayal of Sir George Williams (Founder of YMCA) and Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das (Founder of YMCA Cuttack).

Mr. Sujit Pani, Board of Director, YMCA Cuttack welcomed the gathering,  followed by a special number presented by Mr. Dharmaraj Chowdhury and a brief objective of the Memorial Lecture by Mr. Paresh Das, Convenor, St. Thomas Fellowship, Bhubaneswar. Thereafter, the Chief Guest addressed the august gathering followed by an evocative poem recital by Dr. Binita Behera, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. The distinguished Keynote Speaker delivered a deeply researched and eloquent reflection based on the theme that brought alive the legacy of Madhusudan Das in connection with Mahatma Gandhi.

At the end, Er. Alok Kumar Sahu, Secretary of YMCA Cuttack, offered a vote of thanks, followed by refreshments.
