Update/Appeal : South East Asia Typhoon and Quake

Dear Colleagues,

Update/Appeal: South East Asia Disasters ~ Typhoon Ketsana (in Philippines , in Vietnam ) and Earthquake (in Indonesia )

Further to my solidarity letter to affected countries of Typhoon Ketsana and Earthquake, we would like to make an initial appeal for financial support for emergency relief/response for the affected communities.

The YMCA of Vietnam has shared a report and emergency plans for 200 families. I was able to contact Indonesia YMCA and they will be sending details of their relief-rehabilitation programmes. YMCA Philippines is concurrently doing some emergency relief programmes thru the YMCAs in Manila Bay Region and in other affected areas. Further details of the middle-term rehabilitation works of the National Council shall be furnished to the APAY office within the next few days.

We will be sending an initial advance of US$2,000 to YMCA Vietnam as this has been requested as an immediate need for their emergency plan. We have attached the report.

Kindly indicate your initial pledge of support that should be sent to the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs account.
