Gender Equity Committee
Training of Trainers
November 13-18, 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

I. Introduction:

With a vision to encourage and develop more women into leadership positions of both lay and staff in the YMCAs thus promote gender mainstreaming, justice, equity and equality within YMCAs and the communities it works with, the committee has been mandated to implement the outlined plan approved by the Executive Committee during its March 2012 meeting. Initially, the Training of Trainers intends to invite committed women and men leaders in the YMCA to attend and participate to the series of trainings with the end in view on having these trained lay and staff to be trainers and advocates on gender causes as promoted by the YMCA at local, national and regional levels. It is the hope of this program that those who will be sent to this training by their respective YMCAs will return and serve as trainers in YMCAs training events and opportunities integrating a gender sensitivity/awareness component in most, if not all of its training and program events, i.e. youth empowerment as change agents, green ambassadors, alternative tourism, peace and justice program responses, global citizenship education and the community action youth-led responses and in the YMCA workplaces.

Following this training of trainers, it is expected that an on-line curriculum may also be developed as a follow through to the learning experiences the participants initially gained, address other training needs/concerns and to encourage other interested members to sign in and participate in the on line sessions that will be developed during the training of trainers.
