Laos YMCA Green Ambassadors program

The Green Ambassador training was organized by the Laos YMCA together with the Northern Agriculture and forestry college. They had invited eight schools nearby to attend and learn about green ambassadors to empower them to continue to do more about the environment in their school and expected them to conduct the green program in their school.

The focus subject was Networking Green Team. The following eight schools participated:

1. Pakxaeng secondary school.

2. PakOu secondary school.

3. PakOu High school

4. Kokwan secondary school

5. PakXueng secondary school

6. Phonexay Secondary school

7. XiengNguen secondary school

8. XiengNguen High school.

Objectives

• To discuss with the director of each school to get support and agreement to conduct the green team program
• Set up the Green team in the eight schools
• List out the need of the school to start and set up the project
• Set up the recycling bank in each school
• How to set up the accounting of recycling bank
• Clear the area to build the recycle storeroom
• Plant 20 plants of each school
• Training on the procedure to set up the team

Responsibility

• Eight schools will get the agreement from their directors, write down the list of plants, clear the area to conduct the environmental work.
• Northern Agriculture and Forestry College are in the chart with all the training about the procedure and volunteers and set up with eight schools. Lao YMCA will assist with this work.
• Laos YMCA will support 20 plants for each school.

Laos is still on lockdown in provinces and some districts. So, Government does not allow gathering in big groups. So we did the activities individually with eight schools, which is 30 minutes away from town and in another district.

We take this opportunity to continue to build the relationship among schools for the future program. And can use this opportunity for GATN works in the future, depending on the situation of Covid in the region and with the government official latter. But we will keep the activities going by communicating through group chat.

Laos YMCA networking green team group, able to receive information and communicate in terms of environment work. Now each school knows Laos YMCA and cooperate reasonably at all levels.
