Subject: APAY ~ University YMCA (Uni-Y) Pledge

Dear Colleagues/Friends,

We share with you the APAY University YMCA (Uni-Y) Pledge drafted by the participants of the 2nd Asia & Pacific Uni-Y Regional Conference held last 29 July to

3 August 2009 in Singapore YMCA. We were so inspired to be with so many youths during the programme.

One of the main components of this Uni-Y Pledge is the establishment of a network among Uni-Y'ers in our region called the Asia & Pacific Uni-Y (APUY) Alliance . This was initiated by the representatives of those Movements that attended the Conference. This network aims to provide a platform to nurture the University YMCAs/student groups and build upon the UYAP network. Mr. Oliver Loke, APAY YPLD Committee Member and Uni -Y Vice President of SMU-Singapore Y will be the moderator.

For those of you who were not able to send participants, we encourage you to send 2 representatives from your YMCA preferably students/youth volunteers (from universities or its equivalent) and join this APUY Alliance. Please send the names to our Executive Secretary for Programmes, Ms. Cristina Dalope ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Together with their own Uni-Y/College-Y/Student Y and Y youth groups, members of the network are expected to do some programmes/action responses and make progress report at the next Uni-Y Conference in Philippines some time December 2010.

Let us continue giving our young people more opportunities to develop their leadership potentials as a strong voice and partners for the sustainability of our Movements.

My warmest appreciation.

Kohei Yamada
General Secretary
