Building Just and Participatory Civil Society

Civil society is an inclusive process open to everyone to participate. At the same time, individuals have a responsibility to both self and to community. The YMCA can contribute towards building a Just and Participatory Civil Society as a resource base, as a CSO leader, by acting locally, focussing on youth and renewed partnerships and cooperation.

Eradicating Poverty, Working towards Sustainable Communities

Children, youth and women are the ones mostly suffering from poverty. YMCAs have been working towards poverty eradication and sustainable communities through education to understand the existing context, enhancing capacity for solving basic needs, increasing access to reach available resources, providing appropriate technology and networking.

Action in Solidarity with the Suffering

The presence of God in the human heart moves us towards love and compassion for the suffering of others. Compassion awakens us towards commitment to solidarity with the neighbour who is suffering and in pain. YMCA's may act in solidarity with the suffering by its Commitment to engage - strategically and pro-actively; Empowering towards self-reliance; Setting up/ Revitalising Knowledge Base; Strategic Partnerships; and Training and Development.
