Sub : APAY Workshop on Poverty and Sustainable Development

Greetings to you from Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs.

The APAY’s concern on Sustainable development and Alleviation Poverty as proclaimed in the MDG’s was reflected in adopting Sustainability of life for all as one of the key thrusts in the Quadrennial Programme plan. Several YMCAs in the Region have been engaged in various activities in relation to poverty and sustainability issues over decades. We have experienced several successes and failures in our journey of alleviating poverty and theses learning’s called us to search for renewed strategies and development models and re-engage with concerted initiatives for grater impact in our communities.

In actualising this vision to action, the APAY is facilitating a workshop on Poverty and Sustainable Development in New Delhi hosted by the YMCA New Delhi on behalf of the National Council of YMCAs of India.

I believe that the workshop will give fresh opportunities for YMCAs in the developing countries to rededicate its efforts for strengthening programmes for sustainable development and alleviate poverty in communities. The workshop will also give greater opportunities for the YMCAs in the developing countries to be in partnership with the innovative signature initiatives through APAY Partnership Project Scheme.

Attached please find the relevant details of the workshop. We request all the National Movements to encourage local YMCAs to send delegates / responsible staffs to participate in the workshop and be a partner in the APAY Partnership Project.
