Nobel Peace Prize winners invited to debate with younger leaders in Guatemala
Guatemala YMCA and the Rigoberta Menchu Tum Foundation have invited Rigoberta Menchu and Betty William, both winners of the Nobel Peace Prize, to meet young leaders in Guatemala in July of this year.
The International Encounter, which aims to promote the development of a culture of peace, will include training workshops, street events, debates, reflections and publications. It is an opportunity for younger leaders to meet others who share their dreams and hopes for a better world. The Nobel Prize Winners will share some of their experiences of life, their projects, their future plans, and many other things.
This year will be the fourth Encounter with Nobel Prize Winners. The programme includes:
1. International Congress on Education for Peace, 19-22 July
2. Public Forum with student leaders, social organizations, international visitors and the general public, 23 July.
3. International Encounter of younger leaders with Nobel Prize winners 23 -24 July.
4. Visit to local communities by winners of the Nobel Prize, accompanied by international visitors 25 July.
For more information, or to register for the event, please contact Nelson Oliva, YMCA Guatemala: extension@acjymca-guate.org. A limited number of subsidies are available.
