The 1st Asia Pacific Christian Youth Assembly took place in Jeju, Korea, from September 4 to 8, 2024, and was a significant gathering that united 60 participants from 12 countries: Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Read more

Myanmar YMCA Created Space for “Learning and Sharing” A Workshop” to Empower Youth Y2Y

The workshop provided space for youth to listen to the motivational speaker, Pannel Discussion enhancing their knowledge and soft skills in critical areas such as leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, volunteerism, and SWOT analysis, skills that are essential for navigating daily life and future career opportunities. Read more 

Jashore YMCA organized a Youth Empowerment Workshop on Community Leadership

The Youth Empowerment Workshop 2024 was a successful event. It gave young people the tools and inspiration they need to become leaders in their communities. The Gender Equity Committee met online to chart out the 16 Days of Activism against GBV

On September 26, 2024, from 4 PM to 6 PM HKT, ten members participated in an online meeting. The meeting began with a word of prayer by Dr. Betsy Williams. The primary focus was to plan the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, scheduled from November 25 to December 10. The discussion centered on creating safe spaces and ending gender-based violence, with various activities proposed to engage members and YMCAs across the Asia Pacific region. Read more 

Interfaith Cooperation Forum (ICF) Program Committee holds virtual regular meeting

The (ICF) Program Committee held its second virtual regular meeting on September 20, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 pm HKT. Eleven members and three ICF staff attended the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to share updates on the program implementation and to review key initiatives and upcoming activities for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025. Read more

Initiative Taken By YMCA Cuttack to form a New YMCA in Khordha

YMCA Cuttack, is the second oldest YMCA in the Eastern India Region of YMCAs. Understanding the responsibility towards strengthening the YMCA movement in its region, the Board of YMCA Cuttack took an initiative to motivate and inspire the Christian youth members of Baptist Church, Khordha, to form a new YMCA at Khordha. Read more

Visit of China YMCA Delegation to APAY Jeju Office and Attendance at NCY-Korea’s 110th Anniversary Celebration

From September 7th to 11th, a delegation from China YMCA, including Prof. Xin Chen (President of NCY-China), Mr. Zhiqiang Hao (National General Secretary), Mr. Zhaozhen Ma (Associate General Secretary of Shanghai YMCA), and Ms. Xiaojuan Feng (General Secretary of Hangzhou YMCA), visited the Asia Pacific YMCA Jeju office. Read more 

The APAY staff were delighted to host Ms. Meike Geppert from Bread for the World (BftW) Germany during her visit to the APAY Jeju office on September 25-26. BftW is a longstanding global partner of the Asia Pacific YMCA, and this visit marked an important milestone as it was Meike's first time visiting the new office in Jeju following its inauguration.

An unexpected fire broke out at the YMCA International Centre in Sri Lanka; buildings are partially damaged!

A fire broke out in the early morning on the 23rd of July at the YMCA International Centre in Kurana, Katunayake. Many from the global YMCA community and APAY reached out to the YMCA Sri Lanka with solidarity and support. NCY of Sri Lanka is eternally grateful to all in the greater YMCA family for their camaraderie and concern during this time.
