“Hope and Growth” - Youth-Led Climate Solution Project 2025

The Hope & Growth Project – 1000 Moringa Tree Distribution and Planting Program was successfully held on 22nd July 2025 at the Youth Training Centre in Pranthan, Sri Lanka, as part of the APAY Youth-Led Climate Solution Project 2025, with the generous support of the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs. This impactful initiative aimed to promote the nutritional benefits of Moringa, improve soil and salinity management, and educate communities on sustainable, eco-friendly agricultural practices. Around 35 villagers, including widows, small-scale farmers, and youth, actively participated in the program. The event featured an engaging and informative training session led by an officer from the Department of Agriculture, who explained the health, environmental, and economic value of Moringa cultivation. Participants gained practical knowledge on planting techniques, care, and long-term benefits. National President Mr. Richard Janzs and National General Secretary Mr. Niranga Fernando also joined the program, showing their support and encouragement for youth-led climate action and grassroots-level sustainability. Following the session, Moringa trees were distributed to each participant to be planted in their home gardens and community spaces, fostering sustainable agriculture, self-reliance, and resilience within the local community.
