From November 24 to 27, 2025, the YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCAHK) celebrated the Centennial of the Headquarters on Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, bringing together over 130 dedicated YMCA leaders, volunteers, staff, and Ms. Soheila Hayek, the President of the World YMCA, united by a common faith and vision for the future.

The celebration kicked off with Cultural Night, embodying our theme of togetherness. This lively evening offered guests the opportunity to connect and share stories in an atmosphere filled with faith and commitment. Attendees donned international attire, showcasing a rich tapestry of cultures. Performances from various YMCAs brought everyone together, singing and dancing to transcend cultural differences and echoing the powerful message of the song: "We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving".

The following days featured exposure trips to various YMCAHK service units and schools, allowing participants to gain insight into our essential community and educational services. Tailored routes highlighted YMCAHK’s diverse initiatives, enabling guests to engage with meaningful work that embodies our mission of community development and youth empowerment. On that evening, overseas guests were invited to join evening tours of Hong Kong to experience firsthand the dynamism and glittering vitality of this "Pearl of the Orient."

On the third day, the Centennial Eucharist served as a pivotal moment of gratitude. Appreciation was expressed to God for the visionary leaders whose dedication has paved the way for YMCAHK over the past century. The Eucharist affirmed that when we seek divine guidance and wisdom, God opens the way for our mission to be fulfilled.

The evening culminated in a memorable Thanksgiving Dinner, featuring a special video honoring YMCAHK's legacy. Young staff and volunteers captivated the audience with a live worship that encapsulated the spirit of togetherness and our shared heritage.

The Re-dedication of YMCAHK The Beacon

The final day was marked by the re-dedication of our revitalized community center — now officially named YMCA of Hong Kong The Beacon. More than a renewal of space, this moment reaffirms its role as a community lighthouse, guiding through faith, hope, and love. Located in Cheung Sha Wan and revitalized in 2025, The Beacon continues its journey as a multi-purpose center integrating living, arts, and learning. It stands ready to empower individuals, transform the community, and illuminate the path toward a brighter future, as we renew our commitment to answering the call of service. On the re-dedication worship, 12 young staff members from across YMCAHK lit candles as an act of dedication, symbolizing the infilling of The Beacon with God’s light and strength. An Ignition Ceremony was also held during the service, offering our commitment to serve the Lord in faith and obedience.

The Centennial Celebration was not merely an event; it reaffirmed our enduring mission and shared values. As we reflect on our rich history, we carry forward the inspiration and purpose that God has provided us over the past hundred years.

Thank you to all who joined us in commemorating this significant milestone. Let us continue to ask, seek, and knock as we embark on the next century of YMCAHK’s journey together.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7
