Taipei YMCA Celebrates 80 Years of Service and God’s Grace

Aligning with God’s Will, Doing His Good Work

On November 22, 2025, five hundred guests from Taiwan and abroad gathered at Grace Baptist Church to celebrate the Taipei YMCA’s eight decades of service and to bear witness the Lord’s enduring grace throughout its journey.

Board member Pastor Tsai San-Hsiung delivered a message rooted in the theme “To Will and to Work,” encouraging all—regardless of age—to dedicate themselves to God’s calling and to continue shaping their communities through acts of goodness. He offered prayers of blessing for the YMCA and all in attendance, urging everyone to move forward with renewed purpose as we live out our testimony and honor God’s name.

The celebration was further enriched by heartfelt congratulations from YMCAs and nonprofit partners both locally and internationally. We are especially grateful to Dr. Hsieh Wen-Tsong, President of the YMCA of Taiwan, and Mr. Nam Boo-Won, General Secretary of the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs, for their affirming words during the ceremony. We also extend our appreciation to Mr. Carlos Madjri Sanvee, Secretary General of the World YMCA, whose warm video greeting was shared during the evening dinner.

The Taipei YMCA traces its beginnings to 1945, when twenty-two visionary Christians came together in the aftermath of World War II. Motivated by faith and a deep sense of mission, they believed that uniting like-minded young people, serving society in the spirit of Christ, and nurturing sound character were essential to bringing renewal and hope to the community.

For eighty years, the Taipei YMCA has steadfastly upheld the conviction of “Glorifying God and Benefiting People.” Guided by God’s providence, the YMCA has devoted itself to children’s and youth education, support for the disadvantaged, holistic well-being, and promoting active senior living. Despite many challenges, God’s abundant grace has sustained every step, enabling the YMCA to carry its mission across generations.

As people of faith, we are called to love our neighbors, to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, and to transform belief into action. The past eight decades has been a remarkable journey—and now a new chapter begins. Looking ahead, the Taipei YMCA will remain grounded in faith, committed to nurturing children and youth, shaping sound character, caring for the vulnerable, serving the community, and meeting every challenge with courage and hope.

For eighty years, the Taipei YMCA has grown through the support, friendship, and shared mission of YMCAs and partner organizations both domestically and internationally. We cherish these relationships and look forward to continuing this journey of service together.

We give thanks to God with deep gratitude and honor the dedication of the volunteer leaders, YMCA members, staff members, and supporters whose faithful service has carried the Taipei YMCA to this milestone. Today’s accomplishments are built upon yesterday’s devotion, and tomorrow’s vision will be realized through our shared efforts.

May God’s abiding grace be with us always.
