The YMCA Boys’ Division, Tirupattur, and Camp Centre, Yelagiri, India observed the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2025 on 10th December 2025 at YMCA Tirupattur. The theme for this year’s campaign was “End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.”
Mr. Ezekiel, Secretary, warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in creating safe physical and digital environments for women and girls.
Mr. S. George Bernardsha, Executive, delivered the keynote address on the theme. He emphasised the growing forms of digital violence, such as online harassment, cyberstalking, impersonation, non-consensual sharing of images, and the emotional trauma these acts cause. He explained how digital violence restricts the freedom, confidence, and participation of women in online spaces. He also encouraged participants to become advocates of digital safety by promoting respectful online behaviour, reporting misconduct, and supporting survivors.
Participants were then invited to share their views, personal experiences, and reflections on how digital violence affects families, communities, and society at large. Many shared insightful thoughts on the need for awareness, stronger legal protections, responsible technology use, and educating young people about cyber safety.
As a collective commitment, the participants took a pledge to end digital violence against all women and girls, promising to stand for dignity, respect, and zero tolerance for online abuse.
More than 70 women and men actively took part in the programme, demonstrating strong community support for the campaign. The event concluded with a renewed determination to build a safer, inclusive, and violence-free digital world for all.
