Introduction

The 16 Days of Activism is a global movement observed from 25 November to 10 December to raise awareness and call for action to end violence against women and girls. YMCA Lahore actively participated by organizing meaningful activities focused on gender justice, digital safety, youth empowerment, and climate responsibility.

This report highlights all activities conducted during the campaign.

YMCA Lahore ran a 16-day awareness campaign addressing:

27 November: Thursday in Black – Solidarity for Survivors

Students and staff wore black to show resistance against Gender-Based Violence.

1 December: Dialogue and Debate Session – End Digital Violence

Youth shared discussions and real opinions on:

  • Online harassment
  • Fake accounts
  • Cyber stalking
  • Digital blackmail
  • Non-consensual image sharing

The session empowered youth to understand digital safety.

3 December: Workshop — “Climate Justice is Gender Justice”

The workshop connected climate change with the vulnerabilities faced by women during disasters, especially floods.

Discussions included:

  • Climate risks increasing GBV
  • Community responsibility
  • Green solutions
  • Role of youth in climate justice

4 December: Thursday in Black (Second Observance)

On 4 December, Madam Ghazala Sarfraz General Secretary of YMCA Lahore delivered a powerful message emphasizing justice, dignity, and standing with survivors of gender-based violence.

8–9 December: GBV Awareness Art Exhibition

Students displayed artwork depicting:

  • Violence against women
  • Breaking silence
  • Digital safety
  • Empowerment and equality

This exhibition gave youth a platform to express awareness creatively.

10 December: Closing Address & Plantation Activity

The final session of the 16 Days of Activism campaign featured a powerful closing address delivered by General Secretary Madam Ghazala Sarfraz. In her speech, she highlighted the urgent need to address gender-based violence and emphasized that creating a just and safe society is a shared responsibility.

She reflected on the campaign’s efforts, noting that throughout the 16 days, YMCA Lahore successfully conducted awareness sessions, interfaith dialogues, capacity-building workshops, youth engagement activities, and digital safety campaigns. She acknowledged the commitment shown by students, facilitators, and faculty members who worked collectively to promote gender equality and a culture of respect and dignity.

Plantation Activity

Following the closing session, a symbolic plantation activity was carried out.
Students planted saplings across the campus to represent hope, resilience, and the collective

promise to build a safer and more inclusive society.

The activity reinforced a meaningful message:


Just as we nurture the earth to help it grow stronger, we must also nurture our communities—ensuring they remain free from violence, discrimination, and inequality.

Conclusion

YMCA Lahore successfully carried out the 16 Days of Activism campaign through powerful engagement, awareness programs, reflection activities, debates, solidarity movements, exhibitions,onmental action.

The campaign strengthened youth understanding on:
