In celebration of the 84th Anniversary of the YMCA of the City of Baguio Inc.

Venue: YMCA Baguio AUDITORIUM Post Office Loop, Salud Mitra, Baguio City

The pageant Search for Little Mr. and Ms. YMCA Baguio is an annual program of the YMCA Baguio through the Pre-School Program in support to the Annual Celebration of the Anniversary of YMCA of the City of Baguio since 1941. The pageant search started after the killer earthquake in 1996 as a popularity contest selling tickets and giving donation envelopes to raise funds for the YMCA         Pre-School. Then it evolved as a search pageant for “BEAUTY, TALENT, and INTELLIGENCE contest”. It has been going on for the past 29 years at every December Anniversary of the YMCA of the City of Baguio. Learners who have participated especially those who have been crowned Little Mr. and Ms. YMCA have a lasting and historic encouragement to every Learner of their generation up to present in the YMCA Baguio Pre-School.

Objectives of the Program is:

  • “to give a voice to Nursery and Kinder School children”
  • to provide for parents, single parent and child justice and equal opportunities to work together
  • to give avenue for parent and child to support each other towards wellness of their relationship and cooperation
  • to include concerns about sustainable planet during the “question and answer portion” on how to help the environment from a Pre-School perspective

Details of the Program

  • The search pageant is designed “to give a voice to Nursery and Kinder School children”.
  • Each pair, after their class section audition, show case a healthy learner’s Mind, Body and Spirit during the most awaited search pageant in the YMCA of the City of Baguio
  • Seven (7) Pre-School Class Sections a.m./p.m. X 2 = 14 class sections competes in the audition
  • Pair winners shall represent each Class Level and Section during the search pageant
  • A pair of one girl and one boy shall represent each Class Section from NURSERY-1, NURSERY-2, and KINDERGARTEN
  • Each participant is to project a child’s healthy personality throughout the pageant (Body & Spirit)
  • She/He showcases a chosen Sports, with matching Sport’s Wear (Body)
  • She/He is to perform a chosen category for her/his Talent portion (Mind)
  • She/He is tested through a question and answer appropriate to her/his age level (Mind)
  • She/He is also graded through self-confidence, alertness, and spirit
  • All learners who have not been selected shall be given equally a Class Section presentation or dance performance during the search pageant for ALL parents to witness her/his child perform at the stage
  • The Little Mr. And Ms. YMCA Baguio Pre-School shall be crowned and the rest are runner-ups
  • The newly crowned winners shall represent the YMCA Pre-School in their attendance to various program invitations related to the YMCA of Baguio throughout the current school year, until both shall turn and pass their crown to the next pair
  • Participants before the search pageant undergo a series of training, orientation and practices thus preparing these children to level up the Mind, Body and Spirit

Proceedings, Outputs & Outcomes

  • This annual search pageant is an Institutionalized Platform for YMCA Baguio Pre-School advocacies It provides a face-to-face venue, showing the quality training of a continuing Pre-School Education in the City of Baguio, Philippines
  • YMCA Baguio Pre-School is one of the biggest provider of Pre-School Education in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Benguet, Philippines
  • The YMCA Parent Teacher’s Association were very much appreciative and supportive of the search pageant
  • The YMCA learners have been given a powerful plat form to give a voice

Attendance: 249 +/- Pre-School participated during the audition

4 pairs (girl & boy) selected for the search pageant

241 learners in attendance rendered a dance presentation in between the program

494 Pre-School children directly served

441 +/- parents, guardian, or chaperons came + YMCA Staff

747 +/- indirectly served in attendance during the program
