YMCA Badminton Tournament by YMCA Cuttack

YMCA Cuttack successfully organized an Open Men’s Doubles Badminton Tournament on 14th & 15th February 2026, duly approved by the Orissa State Badminton Association. The tournament was co-sponsored by Y’s Men Club of Cuttack Millennium, Mohanty Combines, Nexus Engineering and Glaze.

The tournament aims to encourage and motivate young badminton players to build stamina, strength, and agility, thereby enhancing their overall physical fitness. The wooden-topped mat turf is designed to minimize injuries, providing a safe playing environment. This allows participants to confidently showcase their talent and perform at their full potential.

The tournament commenced with a word of prayer offered by Dr. Raj Bolobha Mohanty, President, YMCA Cuttack. A total of 48 teams participated in the tournament, making it a highly competitive and vibrant sporting event. Players represented various districts including Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Koraput, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Paradeep, Jagatsingpur, Banki, Athagarh and Salepur, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the two-day event.

Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the teams from the quarter-final stage onwards, encouraging competitive excellence and recognizing outstanding performances.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony was graced by Sri. Sriharsha Routray, Former State Badminton Champion, who attended as the Guest of Honour and distributed prizes and trophies to the winning players.

The successful and smooth conduct of the tournament was made possible due to the dedicated efforts of the Youth and Physical Education Standing Committee members. The contribution of Mr. Nihar Dutta, a supporter of YMCA Cuttack, was also highly commendable and appreciable.

YMCA Cuttack expresses its special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Sofia Firdous, Hon’ble MLA, Barabati-Cuttack, for providing financial support through the MLA LAD Fund for the wooden flooring of the Badminton Court, which significantly enhanced the quality of the tournament.

The event concluded on a successful note, reinforcing YMCA Cuttack’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent in the region.
