Elects New Leadership for 2025–2027

The 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024–2025 of the National Council of YMCAs Bangladesh was successfully held on 13 March 2026 at the YMCA Training Center & Guest House.

The meeting was presided over by Ms. Marshia Mili Gomes, President of the National Council of YMCAs Bangladesh, and attended by office bearers, directors, AGM representatives, and the presidents and general secretaries of local YMCAs.

The AGM began with an opening prayer followed by a memorial service in honor of the late Mr. Samarendra Ritchil, former President of NCYB and Chairperson of the YMCA Campsite Project. Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of his soul. Tribute speeches were delivered by Ms. Marshia Mili Gomes, Mr. Babu Markus Gomes, Mr. Robert Robin Marandi, and Ms. Toroshi Areng, daughter of the late Samarendra Ritchil.

The meeting then proceeded with the official AGM agenda, including the president’s speech, presentation of the annual report, audited financial report, and budget, followed by constructive discussions by the General Body.

A three-member Election Committee, headed by Mr. Babu Markus Gomes (Former President, APAY & NCYB), conducted the election of the new leadership for the 2025–2027 term.

The newly elected leadership is:

President: Mr. Shamol Gomes

Vice Presidents: Mr. Gagon Rozario, Ms. Toroshi Areng, Mr. Brucely Richil

Treasurer: Mr. Bappy Drasias Gome

Directors: Mr. Pintu Das – Barishal YMCA, Mr. Taposh Pandey – Kaligram YMCA, Mr. John Dilip Das – Jashore YMCA, and Mr. Mikel Asher Beshra – Bogra YMCA

The General Body expressed appreciation to the outgoing directors and welcomed the newly elected leadership. The AGM concluded with a strong commitment to unity, accountability, and the future mission of the YMCA movement.

The outgoing President Ms. Marshia Mili Gomes formally dissolved the Executive Committee (2023–2025) and closed the AGM.

Following lunch, the first meeting of the newly elected National Executive Committee was held. During the meeting, Ms. Marshia Mili Gomes handed over the NCYB Constitution and official files to the newly elected President Mr. Shamol Gomes.

Eight sub-committees were formed, and the following leaders were nominated:

Mr. Argho Sarder – Chairperson, Youth Committee, Mr. Babu Markus Gomes – Chairperson, YMCA International House Project Committee, Ms. Angelica Dewri – Chairperson, Gender Committee, Ms. Marshia Mili Gomes – Chairperson, YMCA Campsite Project Committee.
