“Prevention of Gender-Based Violence and Peace Building Program”

Myanmar YMCA, Taunggyi YMCA, and Hpa-an YMCA organized a 3 day workshop on “Prevention of Gender-Based Violence and Peace Building Pogram” in Taunggyi Township, Southern Shan State. The main objective of the program were:

  1. promoting gender equality,

  2. preventing gender-based violence (GBV), and

  3. strengthening peaceful communities.

The Faith Actors Motivation Empowerment (FAME) Program was expanded to three villages in Taunggyi Township and five villages in Hpa-an Township. The program engages faith actors and community members in discussions on the influence of religious, cultural, traditional, and social norms on gender roles and community relationships, while providing awareness on education, support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and promoting positive community practices. Through these activities, participants strengthened their understanding of GBV prevention, equality, and peaceful coexistence, while recognizing the important role of faith leaders and communities in driving positive social change.
