The National Council of YMCAs of Japan received a letter of appreciation from the Secretary of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan for its efforts in supporting evacuees from Ukraine. On March 29, Mr. Koji Watanabe, Director of the Residence Support Division, visited the office of Japan YMCA and received the letter of appreciation, highly praising the YMCA's global network for its travel support, assistance in living in each region after arriving in Japan, and total " hands-on support " including Japanese language study, education, employment, medical care, and so on. This “hands-on support” is based on our YMCA’s Life Partner Program.” This program is an original YMCA program that focuses on providing childcare support- one family at a time. We are able to provide long-term support closer than anyone else and according to each individual's situation.

Due to the recent increase in the number of the foreign residents in Japan, the immigration office and other related government ministries and agencies have been making efforts to make the country a comfortable place to live for foreign residents, such as by preparing a "Roadmap for Creating a Multicultural Society with Foreign Residents".

This award was part of such initiatives, and we received a message of expectation that we would like to continue to build a multicultural society through cooperation between the public and private sectors.
