An Ecumenical Easter Day Celebration With Children and Youth By YMCA Timor Leste

The Easter celebration is a social activity that the YMCA of Timor-Leste always conducts as part of the activities to renew faith. These activities aim to foster understanding and cooperation among Protestant and Catholic religious communities. By bringing people together through sports, workshops, and cultural events, the YMCA promotes harmony and strengthens relationships between Protestant and Catholic faiths. In addition, we also do Bible study together on topics such as the resurrection of Christ, relating to young people’s lives according to John 20:01-09.

On May 5, 2025 about  46 females/ girls and 45 males/ boys gathered at the YMCA Timor Leste Youth Centre and actively participated in the activities. This activity and discussion have initiated meaningful conversations among the youth, encouraging them to reflect on their faith and its relevance in their daily lives. By examining the significance of the resurrection, we aim to inspire a deeper understanding of hope and renewal within our community.

Children had a fun-filled time, especially during the Easter egg hunt. A Thanksgiving fellowship dinner together was a time to share and care.

This presents an opportunity for children and young people to congregate in one place to praise the Lord Jesus Christ without the distraction of smartphones. As the current era complicates social gatherings, individuals are increasingly engaging in their preferred activities online rather than in person.
