Rev. Toshimasa Yamamoto is appointed as the President of the YMCA of Japan

We are happy to inform you that Rev. Toshimasa Yamamoto, who is Treasurer of the Asia Pacific YMCA has been appointed as the President of the National Council of YMCAs of Japan.

Rev. Yamamoto was working at Tokyo YMCA as an Executive Secretary from 1977-1985. He was a Board Member of the National Japan YMCA (2005-13, 2018-2024) . He has been serving as Chair of Japan YMCA Research Institute Committee (2006-13, 2018-present) Also, he is President of the Asian Rural Institute from 2022.

After retiring from the YMCA as Secretary, he became a pastor and has served as General Secretary of National Christian Council in Japan and professor at Kwansei Gakuin University, contributing to the YMCA movement in Japan and other Christian movements around the world. His term of President is for two years, from July 1, 2024 to the end of June 2026.
