YMCA Cuttack Observed Good Friday and Easter in a Meaningful Way

Good Friday was observed by YMCA Cuttack on 18th April, 2025, by conducting a Good Friday Service from 7:00 pm onwards at YMCA Cuttack. Speaker Rev. K. Vasudevan from Bangalore shared the Word of God in English and interpreted in Odia by Rev. Samuel Somalingam, Pastor, Mount House Church of God, Cuttack. Around 150 believers of the Christian faith attended the service.

Rev. Raghab Digal started the service with a word of prayer, followed by the Praise and Worship by the Choir group of YMCA Cuttack. The Speaker and the Interpreter were felicitated by flower bouquets. Dr. Raj Bolobha Mohanty, President, YMCA Cuttack and the Regional Chairman, Eastern India Region delivered the welcome address. cripture reading by Ms. Stuti Rachita Pradhan in English and    Ms. Pratikshya Das in Odia from Romans 1:1-16.

Er. Alok Kumar Sahu, Secretary, YMCA Cuttack, introduced the speaker and the Interpreter to the congregation followed by the offering song presented by the Choir group of YMCA Cuttack. Rev. Amal Das offered a prayer for the message, speaker, interpreter and the offering followed by the Word of God shared by the Speaker. The Speaker shared the difficulties, challenges he and his family faced when his father accepted Christ to become a Christian believer and also his personal childhood challenges to deliver his testimonial message that God is glorified through our challenges as God was glorified through the challenge of crucifixion faced by Jesus Christ. The service concluded with a closing prayer and benediction offered by Rev. Samuel Somalingam followed by a fellowship meal.

Easter Sunday was observed by YMCA Cuttack on 20th April, 2025, by conducting an Easter Sunday Service from 10:30 am onwards at YMCA Cuttack. We had the same speaker for the service Rev. K. Vasudevan from Bangalore who shared the Word of God in English which was interpreted in Odia by Rev. Samuel Somalingam, Pastor, Mount House Church of God, Cuttack. Around 180 believers of Christian faith attended the service.

The service started with a word of prayer offered by Mr. Samson Puri followed by the Praise and Worship by the Choir group of YMCA Cuttack. The scripture portion of Mark 16:1-13 was read by Mrs. Sumana Mohanty in Odia and Ms. Stuti Rachita Pradhan in English. Thereafter, the offering song presented by the Choir Group of YMCA Cuttack was followed by a prayer for regular prayer requests, message of God, speaker, interpreter and offerings, led by Rev. Amiya Kumar Sahu.

The speaker and interpreter were felicitated with pastoral gifts by Dr. Raj Bolobha Mohanty, President, YMCA Cuttack and the Regional Chairman, Eastern India Region. The Speaker through his life instances delivered the message of holding onto our faith when we face difficulties and challenges in our lives because Good Friday is always followed by Easter Sunday. We should always be prepared to be witnesses of the risen Christ despite the challenges in our lives. The Easter Sunday Service was followed by Holy Communion Service conducted by Rev. Samar Ranjan Pradhan and other Servants of God. The service concluded with a closing prayer and benediction offered by Rev. Dr. P. Niranjan James followed by fellowship lunch.
