Responses to the Globalizing World

The Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs is pleased to offer a newly published book. Responses to the Globalizing World by Dr. Park Jai Chang.

"It is high time for the whole human society whether in North or South to pay attention to a search for alternative solutions of this turbulent world. The social problems caused by malfunctioning of established orders, however, react differently in each nation and each region; although it is true that existing order doesn’t work efficiently anymore. In argument of unity and diversity of demands to deal with global problems, finding a compromising point of both is the realistic alternative of it. In this point, the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs considered dealing with the problem in regional level which acts as go-between for global level and each national level is more realistic and high-appeal powered strategy. That is the reason for the APAY to self-impose a leading role in search for ways to manage or resolve contradictions arising in the process of globalization. This book is based on those reality and critical mind-set leading to suggestions and ideas that the APAY dared to propose for the last four years (2007-2011). This compilation of speeches, messages, and addresses delivered during his term of office as the president of the APAY by Dr. Jai Chang Park will be an opportunity to get a glimpse of action and reaction of the APAY taken in an attempt to respond to the needs and demands arising in the process of globalization.
