We are pleased to announce again the opening for the post of a APAY Coordinator for Movement Strengthening that will start from March 1st, 2016.

 

We are looking for a committed and experienced person involved in work related to YMCA with good YMCA management background. The person should be able to help strengthening various types of YMCA movements in the Asia Pacific area. YMCA retirees are also welcome to apply.

 

The staff working place shall be at own home in the home country but visit various countries in need of assistance. It could be 15 days a month in average for traveling various countries. Depending on the situation, it may take longer period to stay in one country to solve various issues in the country. It is required to communicate with APAY GS periodically through SKYPE or Telephone. Also there will be physical meetings in Hong Kong at least twice a year.

 

Attached please find a Document giving particulars related to the position. The position is to be filled by 1 March 2016. The appointment will be for a contract of 1 year and could be extended. The closing date for applications is 31st January 2016.

Job Description and Qualification of

APAY Coordinator for Movement Strengthening

 

  1. To provide staff assistance to the General Secretary on Movement Strengthening work in the Asia & Pacific Area
    • Special Assistance to GS on Movement Strengthening (MS)
    • Task Forces on visitation of target movements in focus
    • At this point, visitation and consultation in some of the YMCAs in South and Southeast countries such as Timor Leste, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Mongolia and any country in need of such assistance
    • Working closely with and mentoring General Secretaries of target movements on institutional viability.
    • Actively searching the funding sources for the above areas of work, and write concept papers for the application.
  2. To assist in the Leadership Development Programs including the Advanced Studies and leadership formation programs or components thereof, as assigned by the General Secretary
    • Assistance to GS for the assisting the Advanced Studies Programs
    • Assistance to GS for developing the Staff training curricula and e-learning materials
    • Assistance to GS for conducting basic trainings for staff and volunteers in various countries (in the field of Movement strengthening e.g. governance, resource mobilization, organizational review process, etc.)
  3. To plan and implement MS training Programs for Volunteers and Staff to deepen the YMCA understandings for the area of
    • Three pillars of MS process
    • Organizational Review process
    • Strategic Planning process
    • Financial management process
    • Good Governance in the YMCA
    • Resource Mobilization process
    • Reporting to GS and APAY Board
  4. To perform any other duty as may be delegated by the General Secretary
    • Always willing to take up special responsibilities assigned by GS

Qualification

  1. Experience: at least five years of working experience as an executive level in any YMCA
  2. Age: minimum age of 35
  3. Education: University graduate
  4. Communication Skills: effective communication skills including writing skill in English
  5. YMCA training: preferred to having YMCA professional training
