We continued to follow-up with individuals and the movements that had made pledges.

2. Investments

Investments as have been reported at the Executive Committee meeting in March 2004, now total US$937,820. These investments are in guaranteed bonds with 100% return of principal upon maturity. These are for periods between two to five years at interest rates between 2.3% and 4.3%. The total interest received in 2004 was US$30,307 (US$4,924 in 2003) and another US$34,673 will be due in 2005 at an average interest rate of 3.7%.

3. Support of Action Programmes

Four projects have been successfully supported from the interest (US$ US$16,000) derived so far and successfully completed in 2003-2004. These were:
  • Women Empowerment for Indigenous People and Rural Women in Northern Thailand, Bangkok YMCA, Thailand,

  • Credit Societies for Empowerment and Development, National Council of Sri Lanka,
  • Interfaith Collaboration, Manado YMCA, Indonesia.
  • Empowerment of Landless Labour (Farmers), Salem, India

With the improved interest on investments receivable over the next three years, we plan to begin to support YMCA projects on a larger scale for greater community impact in the next one or two years.
