Atty Elmer C. Balbin, The New Philippine YMCA President

The YMCA of the Philippines had recently elected the new president in the person of Atty Elmer C. Balbin, during the Annual Council Meeting held on November 12, 2023. He took the position vacated by Engr Antonio C. Keh, who continued serving as President of YMCA of Manila. 

Atty Balbin was already member of the National Board of Trustees of YMCA of the Philippines prior to his presidency and served as 2nd National Vice President in 2020 and as 1st Vice President in 2023.

The new president has contributed much of his time in the YMCA movement for 40 years. His humble beginning started when he became a corporate member of the YMCA of the Philippines on November 10, 1983. After which, he was designated as Past President of the YMCA of Negros Occidental based in Bacolod City, one of the member associations of the National Federation. While serving as Director of his local Y, he held various committee chairmanship from 1997 up to present.

Atty Balbin has already proven his capacity to lead the movement after performing well in the different constitutional and outstanding committees in the National Office. Moreso, he is a recipient of various awards from the YMCA, the recent one is the Gold Vision Triangle Service Award, the highest award that could be conferred to its deserving member/volunteer.

Atty Balbin is a professional lawyer and also a Registered Forester. He is married to Executive Judge Phoebe Gargantiel - Balbin of the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod City with whom he has 8 wonderful children.
