Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We have earlier announced that the 2nd Youth Assembly (YA) of the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs (APAY) will be held on 3-6 September 2011 to be hosted by the YMCA of Penang, Malaysia.

We encourage all the Movements to ensure that their youth participants will attend and stay on until the 18th General Assembly from 6-10 September 2011. This will ensure full participation and integration of our youth to both Assemblies. We would like to request further that the official youth representative to the APAY Council and/or possible representative to our Youth Participation and Leadership Development Committee/Standing Committees be among those YA participants. This will enhance our youths’ understanding of their roles and continuity of their leadership and participation.

Herewith are the Youth Assembly’s General Information, Tentative Schedule and relevant forms (for registration and flight details). The closing date of registration is on 15 July 2011.

Dear Colleagues and Friends

On its 3rd year, the Asia-Pacific Uni-Y (APUY) Regional Conference will be held on 19-24 October 2010 at the Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City, Philippines. The APAY, together with the YMCA of the City of Baguio and the National Council of YMCAs of the Philippines are collaborating for this conference under the theme, Bayanihan 2010: LIVE, WORK, HELP – Together, We Transform Lives!

Bayanihan is a Filipino tradition that refers to the spirit of cooperation and volunteerism in one community to achieve a particular goal. As the theme encompasses two major components of Youth Leadership and Youth Volunteerism in Bayanihan, this can bring positive social change fostering respect for diversity, equality and the participation for all. Working together more than an individual as a source of community and power.
