Impacts on Youth in Society

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from the APAY!

In today's globalised world, our young people are greatly impacted upon by changes and phenomena of globalisation, modernisation and urbanisation.

Recognising their role as partners in YMCA mission and actors for social change, this roundtable is designed to mobilise youth as leaders to understand, critically analyse global issues affecting them and explore what it means to be a global citizen. Together, these young participants will develop practical responses, localised actions and address the needs of their own communities. They can be more aware of their interconnectedness with each other, their families, communities, the YMCA and to the Earth. We believe youth can be active and socially responsible citizens through learning and community engagement.

We encourage National Movements to send and give support to youth participation in this Roundtable as we seek to be locally relevant and responsive in a globalised world.

Attached are the relevant documents for this Youth Roundtable. Please send your registration form(s) to us by 20 June 2008 .

Yours sincerely,

Yip Kok Choong
General Secretary
